Dark Angels Battle Standard

Battle Standards are carried by Battle Groups of less than 2 Companies in strength, or Battle Groups not commanded by either a Master or a Grand Master, or where the Chapter Standard is forbidden to be carried due to a likelihood of capture. The Standards would be displayed on HQ sites, captured structures etc etc. The honour of carrying the standard would be bestowed upon a Veteran Sergeant, who would with his accompanying protection of two battle brothers, not let the Standard out of his sight. Over the centuries Battle Standards have become more simplified to avoid confusion with renegade/unknown Chapters.
