Ravenwing strikeforce by bevulf
Really good looking Ravenwing armies are as rare as hens teeth as technically black is difficult to paint well. So here's a good example of what can be done, beautifully put together by bevulf.
I have already featured bevulf's Sammy here, so have not included him here with the rest of his company.
The real point of this is to concentrate on the bikers and Tornado. Now this ammounts to a couple of RAS squadrons at most, yet already its building into something of great character. What makes this stand out for me is the highlights carefully applied to the black. It saves them from the sin of a heavy-handed grey outline approach to everything. The treatment meted by bevulf makes them look more realistic and less 'modelly'. This might not be to everyone's taste of course.
bevulf details include the signature pink-purple purity seals, and the excellent treatment of the Sergeant's flapping robe. Also nice to see some muck and dirt on those tyres – a detail that helps to break up the overall black monotony – another problem with the RW. And check the freehand '1' applied to the bikers' right shoulderpads, that is really tricky to get looking right. Bases fit the bill just right too.
